She’s 50, she’s beautiful!! She’s innocent, she’s strong!! She’s sweet, she’s warm, she’s compassionate.. And she’s my mother!!
I can’t just bring myself to explain what she is, or how much she means to me! Yet, I try!!
Childlike smile, that may soon turn into laughter, innocence filled eyes, hair usually tied to a bun, a teacher specs and a 50 year old body that looks as if just turned 27… There she is.. You have found my mother!! Yes she’s the one reason people asked me “Which one of you is the older sister?” “You never told me you had any sister?” I fumed then, I fume now.. And I might end up doing so even when she’s 80!! That’s just a never ending insecurity I’m gonna have.. It’s better we do not dwell much on that!
Like any other girl, she has lived a life being known as a loving daughter, a beautiful wife, a doting sister and an amazing mother (If my friends had to say, “The Super cool Mom”. But for me she’ll always be my best friend! A friend whom I could trust enough to tell everything that went on in my life! It was more of a routine than a conscious effort! I must admit it still is! A friend with whom you could discuss simply anything under the sun.. A friend who could understand what you think with just a glance at you! That is the kind of friendship we share till date! We scold each other, we fight, we laugh and cry.. But we both can’t live without the other!
While I write this on her Golden Jubilee day, I’m sure she’s somewhere happily laughing and binging on some spicy pani puris.. That’s happiness for her.. The smallest of things can make all her teeth pop out of their den!! A self contained and every happy human is how I have known her from the time she brought me into this world!! Innocence that may surprise! Emotional strength that can lift yours.. Laughter that’s simply contagious.. And courage of a queen!! A unique combination you say! I agree.. Yet that’s the best version of her you can have!!
I have and will continue to owe a lot to her!! She’s the reason I never lost hope! She’s the reason I have whatever l’il strength I have! She gives me the courage to take a step back and yet say it’s all gonna be okay! She can pull me together, when I might just be falling apart! A teacher that she is, she does tend to be a guiding light!!
This is no essay on “My Mother”.. This is a simple tribute to the girl who lived and made each moment count.. Who cared for everyone.. Who is simple and sacred!! Who taught me what it meant to “Live and Let Live”, “Love and expect none” and “Smile and let the world smile with you”
Today, on this golden day, I wish her all the happiness and love of the world.. I wish they create more of her.. Coz the more there are of her, the happier this world will be!!
